A Classical Studio evolved from the merger of Wakefield Beasley & Associates Architects, Inc. and David Grace, formerly with Bryan, Grace & Contreras.
John Beasley and Lamar Wakefield began their firm 25 years ago with an emphasis in residential architecture. Since then, their firm has grown to over 100 + employees with offices in Jacksonville and Atlanta. The firm specializes in retail, commercial and institutional architecture while continuing to provide residential architecture to their discriminating clients.
With extensive experience in custom and high end home design both for primary and secondary residences; David Grace brings a specialization in traditional residential design. He has worked on show homes for Southern Living and Atlanta Homes & Lifestyle magazines, The Atlanta Symphony and the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association. Together, forming A Classical Studio, David, Lamar and John strive to produce excellence in residential architecture.
A Classical Studio, just as the name implies, specializes in traditional design. It is our belief that all western, traditional architecture can trace its heritage to Greek and Roman predecessors. Without a full understanding of that background, one cannot fully understand the more modern or vernacular adaptations so popular today. Consistent vocabulary is used through history by architects such as Vitruvius, Palladio, LeFever and Shutze which creates the tradition of architecture. This is used to explain the nature of architecture, its elements and its relationship with man. This tradition provides the basis for the continuing education of all who are involved with our studio.
David Grace received a professional certificate from the Institute of Classical Architecture and continues his involvement with the now Institute of Classical Architecture & Classic America as the founding president of the Southeastern Chapter.
